One of the most important museums in Greece is this treasure trove of ancient Greek artifacts. The Archaeological Museum of Olympia is located on the site of Ancient Olympia and has a scale model of the site. Some of the museum’s most notable displays include the statue of Hermes of Praxiteles, a masterpiece of ancient Greek art from the Temple of Hera, Olympia’s most intact structure; the sculptured ornaments from the Temple of Zeus, one of the best surviving ensembles from ancient Greek works of art; and the Helmet of Miltiades, which was worn by the Athenian general in the battle of Marathon.
