The Battle of Austerlitz also known as the Battle of the Three Emperors on Dec. 2, 1805 is considered to be French ruler Napoleon's greatest victory and arguably the most important battle of the Napoleonic Wars. Austerlitz Battlefield is situated several miles west of the actual Czech town of Austerlitz (Czech name Slavkov u Brna) that it was named after. The battle was fought in the then-Austrian Empire as Napoleon's army defeated the armies of Russian Tsar Alexander I and Austrian Emperor Francis II. Today, the Austerlitz Battlefield contains the Cairn of Peace memorial, a chapel, museum and numerous monuments.
