The Olympic Park located on the Montjuic Mountain was the main destination for the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. It features the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium, The Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sports Museum, Palau Sant Jordi sports arena, telecommunications tower, National Physical Education Institute and the Picomell swimming pools. The Olympic stadium, which is a venue to many musical performances, was first built in 1929 when Barcelona was bidding for the 1936 Olympics and lost to Berlin, Germany.
