This is the largest park in Budapest and the first public park in the world. Connected to the city center by Millennium Underground, the area became a park in the 19th century and grew as the site for Hungary’s millennium celebrations in 1896. Enter the park through Heroes’ Square to visit its many attractions. The most popular include a replica of Vajdahunyad Castle (in Transylvania) surrounded by a lake for boating in the summer and ice-skating in winter. Budapest Zoo, the Museum of Transport, Gundel Restaurant and the Municipal Circus are also in the park, along with many playgrounds.
