Camelback Mountain

Looking similar to the hump and head of a kneeling camel, this Phoenix mountain with a summit of 2,704 feet is situated within the Camelback Mountain Echo Canyon Recreation Area. Camelback Mountain was originally set aside to be used as a Native American Reservation in the late 1800s, but became private land until the state government worked out a deal to acquire it in 1968. The mountain contains the Echo Canyon Trail and the Cholla Trail that rise 1,200 feet in elevation.
