Found in the Beaubourg area of Paris, the Centre Pompidou is a complex building that houses the Public Information Library, National Museum of Modern Art, and IRCAM, a French institute of science and music. Designed as a cultural center, the Pompidou was designed in the High Technological, or Late Modernist, style of architecture that makes it look incomplete due to the exterior of the structure plumbing, pipes, air vents and electrical cables that are normally hidden behind the walls of the building. This backwards design proved very popular and the garnered it a unique reputation for its thought-provoking style.
