Seven magnificent life-size prehistoric creature sculptures loom over Rapid City and surround the Black Hills at this park located on land that dinosaur remains from the Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous period were discovered. Dinosaur Park opened in 1936 to attract tourists to the South Dakota region. It features concrete and steel replicas of the Apatosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Anatotitan, Protoceratops and Dimetrodon. The site that is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places offers excellent views of the South Dakota Badlands.
