One of the oldest buildings in Dresden, Dresden Castle was the residence of the electors and kings of Saxony in times past and now houses five museums, containing an astounding number of treasures from all over Europe. The museum called the Numismatic Cabinet has an enormous collection of coins, banknotes and medals from antiquity to the present day. The other museums in this splendid Baroque and Neoclassical edifice feature priceless artworks by Michelangelo and Rembrandt, antique weapons and armory, and hundreds of art objects from the Ottoman Empire.
