The Central Milan glass-domed shopping mall is one of the oldest in the world being designed and built by Giuseppe Mengoni from 1865-77 and named after Italy's first king. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II contains upscale restaurants and retailers such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Prada as well as many long-established businesses. The center's ceiling mosaics represent different countries while its floor mosaics depicts symbols of Italian history.
