This gorgeous medieval structure is considered the most famous landmark of the city of Innsbruck. Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I and his entourage watched tournaments and festivals from this royal box, which was finished in 1500 to mark the Emperor's wedding to Bianca Maria Sforza. Bearing witness to the sumptuous and majestic style of royalty, Golden Roof gets its name from the 2,738 fire-gilded copper tiles that adorn its roof. Not to be outdone, the remainder of the structure is decorated with exquisite reliefs and mural paintings, featuring coats of arms and depictions of exotic Moorish dancers.
