This prominent Olomouc monument was constructed from 1716–1754 to honor God for ending the plague that beset Moravia between 1714 and 1716. Holy Trinity Column was designed and constructed by many local artists and builders. It has three levels adorned with statues saints and apostles in addition to reliefs. Archangel Gabriel tops the monument, which is the largest free-standing Baroque sculpture in Central Europe. The UNESCO World Heritage Site also contains a chapel.
