Named after a famous Bulgarian writer, this beautiful Neoclassical structure in Sofia is the oldest theater in the country. Ivan Vazov National Theatre was built from 1904-06 and designed by architects Hermann Helmer and Ferdinand Fellner. It had to be reconstructed multiple times including after a 1923 fire and World War II bombing. It has a 150-seat main stage in addition to two smaller ones. The theater faces the City Garden.
