One of the most gorgeous natural parks in Croatia, the lush Krka is home to a variety of rare plants and animals, including 860 species of plants, 222 species of birds, 18 species of fish, and 18 species of endangered and rare bats. The mouth of the KrKa River, which opens into the sea, is considered extremely biologically diverse and free of pollution. One major attraction in the park is Skradinski Buk, a collection of waterfalls that empty into a series of natural pools. Another main feature is the island of Visovac, easily accessible from Skradinski, which houses the Eastern Orthodox Krka Monastery.
