This monument at the junction of Monument Street and Fish Street Hill commemorates the Great Fire of London in 1666 and celebrates the rebuilding of the city. The Monument to the Great Fire of London, built between 1671 and 1677, was erected near the spot where the fire began. The towering Doric column is capped by a gilded bronze urn of flames and has 311 spiral steps that lead to 360-degree views of London.
