The Museum of Montserrat contains archaeological exhibits and works from renowned artists such as Dali, Monet, Picasso, Giordano and El Greco. The museum was built in the 1920s to display art and artifacts to visitors of the town and the monastery. Most of its works have been donated by private owners. The museum is on Montserrat Mountain by St. Mary’s Square. Its oldest piece is a sarcophagus from the 13th century BC, but the museum contains works made as recently as 2001.
