Pont des Arts Bridge is yet another popular rendezvous for lovers, who come here to declare their love by attaching a lock to the railing. Such is the density of these "lover's locks" that, when viewed from afar, it's as if the sides of the bridge are covered in confetti. Prior to becoming a popular meeting place for the terminally infatuated, the bridge primarily served as a link between The Louvre, the grande dame of art museums, and the Institut de France, headquarters of five French intellectual academies.
