Also known as the Flame of Liberty, Princess Diana’s Flame has actually been in Paris since 1989. The gold-leaf replica of the Statue of Liberty’s torch stands at the northern end of Pont de L’Alma Bridge, which crosses the Seine in Paris. It was erected with donations from around the world as a symbol of Franco-American friendship after the French restored the Statue of Liberty in New York. Now it serves as an unofficial memorial to Lady Diana, Princess of Wales and Dodi Al-Fayed who died in a tragic car accident under the same bridge.
