This extraordinary Palladian-style bridge crossing the River Avon to connect Central Bath to Bathwick. Pulteney Bridge was designed by Robert Adam and constructed from 1769-1774 from Bath stone. It is 980 feet by 58 feet. The Pulteney Bridge was built for William Pulteney, who owned Bathwick property with his wife that he wanted to develop. The bridge is only one of four bridges in the world to have shops built into its entire length. It has been designated an ancient monument by Great Britain.
