Sanctuary of the Virgin of Nuria
Nestled among the Pyrenees, in La Vall de Nuria, the Sanctuary of the Virgin is a place of pilgrimage. The spiritual oasis is around 6500 feet above sea level and completely inaccessible by motorway. It houses a wooden Romanesque carving of the Virgin Mary from the High Middle Ages. Today, the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Nuria is a retreat for meditation and prayer. Couples also come here for the cross, the bell and the pot, which are said to bring fertility.
