This Texas zoo that opened in 1922 has 1.84 million visitors per year to view its collection of more than 6,000 animals that reside on 55 acres in Hermann Park. It has more than 900 species of mammals, aquatic animals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. Houston Zoo features a giraffe feeding station, 13,500-square foot Water Play Park, Wildlife Carousel, Find the Hidden Koolookambas activity and a Naturally Wild Swap Shop. It also sells art created by the zoo animals that paint for enrichment. Buyers are able to choose their artist.
