This stunning international symbol of London spans the Thames River and is named for its proximity to the Tower of London. Tower Bridge was designed by Horace Jones and John Wolfe Barry and took eight years to construct beginning in 1886. The 800-foot long Victorian Gothic-style bascule bridge, which is now powered by oil and electricity instead of steam, has two 213-foot tall ornate towers, pedestrian walkways and a hydraulic system. The inside of the attraction features numerous exhibits about the history of the bridge and London as well as the North Tower Lounge.
