Often referred to as "The Heart of London," this City of Westminster spot was a public gathering place for years and officially named Trafalgar Square in 1830. Highlights are the National Gallery museum, Nelson's Column celebrating the 1805 Battle of Trafalgar victory, St. Martin-in-the-fields church, the fountains and statues and the pigeons. Many events, celebrations, protests and rallies occur in Trafalgar Square. No trip to London is complete without a visit to this landmark.
