Left largely untouched by industrialization and civilization, the Valley of the Cacti runs for miles along the Pacific Coast with intact and wild landscapes. One of Mexico's largest protected areas, the region is sparsely populated with a handful of small towns. In turn, this natural habitat is home to mountain lions, desert foxes, red-tailed hawks, osprey, and waterfowl, alongside a variety of dry vegetation such as giant cacti. The coastline also acts as a critical nesting area for California Pelicans and hosts the largest population of seals in Baja.
