Located along the Adriatic Sea in Croatia's Dalmation region, Zadar has a long history dating back to the 9th century BC when it was a Liburnian settlement. The Romans invaded during the 2nd century BC and Roman ruins still exist in the city. Notable sites include the Roman Forum, St. Donatus' Church, the Sea Organ, St. Anastasia Cathedral and the Land Gate.
