One of two natural islands on the River Seine, the Ile Saint Louis is connected to the rest of Paris by five bridges. Houses and shops face outward toward the water, and narrow one-way streets cut through residential housing and markets to reveal Paris as it might have looked and felt in the 17th century. Enjoy a respite from the usual bustle of the city as you enjoy an artisan ice cream and watch street performers along the Pont Saint-Louis.
