The city of Fredericton is situated along the Saint John River and is the capital of New Brunswick. Fredericton was first primarily used for seasonal farming by first nation people, before being settled by the French in the 17th century. The city is home to two universities and cultural institutions, such as museums and venues; the city hosts the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival annually. There are many historical artifacts and buildings in Fredericton, such as the Christ Church Cathedral which was constructed in 1845.
