The Australian park has a wide variety of natural scenery with dense forests, rocky coastlines, pristine beaches, lush rainforests, serene lakes and grand waterfalls. Great Otway National Park was founded in 1981 with Otway State Forest; the state parks of Angahook-Lorne, Carlisle and Melba Gully and other land added in 2004 to make it more than 250,000 acres. The park's Cape Otway Lightstation is the oldest standing lighthouse in mainland Australia and its Wreck Beach has the remains of several shipwrecks.
