The Archaeological Museum of Olympia is located on the site of Ancient Olympia and has a scale model of the site. Some of the museum’s most notable displays include the statue of Hermes of Praxiteles, a masterpiece of ancient Greek art from the Temple of Hera, Olympia’s most intact structure; the sculptured ornaments from the Temple of Zeus, one of the best surviving ensembles from ancient Greek works of art; and the Helmet of Miltiades, which was worn by the Athenian general in the battle of Marathon.
