Rested on the banks of the Loire River is the city of Blois, the capital of the Loir-et-Cher department in France. Most well known for housing the Chateau de Blois, the city hosts a turbulent past of martyrdom during the Middle ages, struggles between the Calvinists and Catholics in the 16th century, and occupation by the German forces in WWII. Despite this, it remained a favorite residence of the French Kings who resided at the Cheateau de Blois.
