This picturesque Southwest lake located 40 miles east of Phoenix is surrounded by red rock formations, cacti and desert wildlife. The 950-plus-acre Canyon Lake began forming when the Mormon Flat Dam was completed in 1925 on the Salt River in Arizona. It is situated along Apache Trail within the Superstition Wilderness Area of Tonto National Forest. Popular lake recreation activities are fishing, camping, hiking, boating and water skiing.
