This serene island off the coast of California features immaculate beaches, spectacular mountains and an abundance of wildlife. Catalina Island, officially called Santa Catalina Island, is located in the Channel Islands of California in the Gulf of Santa Catalina approximately 20 miles from Los Angeles. It is 22 miles long and developed by Wrigley gum mogul William Wrigley, Jr. after being transferred from Spanish and Mexican ownership to United States. Island attractions include Avalon, Mount Orizaba, Avalon Underwater Dive Park and Catalina Island Museum.
