About Colonial Williamsburg

Step back into Colonial times to see artisans at work, buildings and period costumes in this living museum in the Historic District of Williamsburg, Virginia. Colonial Williamsburg dates back to 1699 when the Virginia Capitol was moved from Jamestown to the Middle Plantation in Williamsburg. Points of interest are Duke of Gloucester Street, Colonial Capitol Building, Governor's Palace, Raleigh Tavern, Bruton Parish Church, Peyton Randolph House, Wythe House and Merchants Square. Colonial Williamsburg is on the U.S. Register of Historic Places.
