About Copper Canyon

The Copper Canyon consists of six different canyons in the Sierra Madre Occidental, and its name comes from the copper color of the canyon walls. The canyons were formed by six rivers which merge into the Rio Fuerte and drain west of the Sierra Tarahumara. Portions of the Copper Canyon are larger and deeper than the Grand Canyon in Arizona.
