Located in Emilia-Romagna and situated northeast of Bologna, the city of Ferrara is home to many palaces dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries. It was made a World Heritage Site by UNESCO because of its cultural and historical setting and Renaissance sites such as its many Renaissance walls and the Castle Estense.
