This historical landmark opened in 1861 was the site where President Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865. After which, the theater remained closed for more than 100 years until 1968. Today visitors can attend plays, musicals and educational productions as well as view ever-changing exhibits at the museum and purchase souvenirs of American history at the gift shop.
