This rocky 771-foot-high hill has a commanding view of the Danube and Budapest. Gellert Hill was named after Saint Gerard who was thrown to his death from the hill, where visitors will find an enormous statue that celebrates his memory. The hill is also home to the Liberation Monument, built in 1947 to commemorate the Red Army’s liberation of Budapest from Nazi occupation.
