A major attraction on the Romantic Road, Harburg Castle is one of the few preserved German castles of the Middle ages. Due to strategic location, the castle was an important military stronghold of the Staufer-Kings from 1079 to 1272. Despite being used for war, the castle's interior is lavishly decorated and also houses a gorgeous garden.
