The Utah city nicknamed "The Red Desert" provides a great access point to both Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. Moab was settled in 1878 and some believe it was named after the Biblical land of Moab along the Jordan River in the Middle East. Utah's Moab also brings many mountain bikers as it is near the famous Slickrock Trail. The city has been the filming locations of many Westerns including "Stage Coach," "Rio Grande," "The Comancheros," "Cheyenne Autumn," "Once Upon a Time in the West" and "Wild Rovers."
