These extraordinary falls located near Quebec City are 98 feet taller than the famed Niagara Falls, but not nearly as wide. Montmorency Falls that drop from the Montmorency River to the St. Lawrence River were named by Samuel de Champlain in 1613 after the Duke of Montmorency. They are surrounded by Montmorency Falls Park that contains staircases, a suspension bridge and an aerial tram for visitors to get a better look at the natural wonder. A grand fireworks competition is hosted above the falls during the summer.
