Situated on the "Island of the City," the Palais de Justice is one of the oldest official buildings in Paris. Constructed along with the Conciergerie and Sainte Chapelle as part of the first royal palace in Paris, it has served as the law courts of France since medieval times. Featuring the oldest functioning clock in Paris and statues designed by Jean-Marie Bonnassieux, the French courts still dispense justice from inside its ornate walls to this day.
