Known for its fantastic vineyards, orchards, and hot springs, Paso Robles has grown from a small rest stop to a thriving community. Early Spanish colonists began a wine craze in the area, encouraging Mexican and California settlers to grow grapes throughout the region. The commercial cultivation of wine began nearly a century later and has continued to this day. The area was also known as the "oldest waters in California" for the variety of mineral hot springs and mud baths that have been developed.
