This regal structure has been the official residence of the ruling Grimaldi family of Monaco for more than seven centuries and it was built in 1191 as a Genoese fortress. A statue of François Grimaldi stands outside the Prince's Palace of Monaco as a tribute to when he disguised himself as a monk in 1297 to seize the fortress. The palace's state rooms, courtyard and museum is open for public tours. Visitors also can view Prince Rainier III's collection of antique cars.
