California's third largest city was memorialized in a 1968 Dionne Warwick hit song "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" and is one of the country's most affluent metropolises thanks to its thriving technology industry. San Jose located in the Silicon Valley was established in 1777 and became California's first state capital in 1850. Notable places in the city are Hayes Mansion, De Anza Hotel, Lick Observatory, Cathedral Basilica of Saint Joseph, Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum, Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose and Winchester Mystery House.
