This iconic pedestrian bridge spanning the Tiber leads to the towering Castel Sant’Angelo, one of Rome’s most recognized landmarks. The bridge, which is lined with statues of angels, was originally built in 134 AD by Roman Emperor Hadrian to connect the city with his mausoleum and was later used by pilgrims to reach nearby St. Peter’s Basilica.
