Also called by its German name Austerlitz, this Czech Republic town is known to have provided its name to the famous Battle of Austerlitz (Battle of the Three Emperors) in 1805 during the Napoleonic Wars, despite the battle being fought west of it. Slavkov u Brna dates back to the 13th century and remnants of an early Teutonic Order monastery can still be viewed in the town's palace. Notable sites are Austerlitz (Slavkov Castle) Castle, Town Hall, Church of the Resurrection of the Lord, St. Urbanus Chapel and the nearby Austerlitz Battlefield.
