Named the world's best food market by "National Geographic" magazine in 2012, this Toronto treasure consists of The South Market, The North Market and St. Lawrence Hall. The South Market has more than 120 different vendors offering produce, meat, fish, sweets and other items as well as a gallery with special exhibitions. The North Market has a large farmer's market on Saturdays, antique vendors on Sundays and hosts many special events. St. Lawrence Hall was built in Renaissance Revival style in 1850 and contains venue space. St. Lawrence Market dates back to the early 1800s when Lt. Gov. Peter Hunter named the area Market Block.
