This Greco-Roman temple in the center of Athens is located southeast of the Acropolis. Olympieion, aka the Temple of Olympian Zeus, was begun in the 6th century BC but not completed until the reign of the Roman Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD. During the Roman era, it was the largest temple in Greece, and today only 15 columns remain, the 16th still lying where it fell in 1852.
